News About Obesity

News About ObesityOne of my favorite ways to keep up with the in’s and out’s of the natural health community is by reading the Natural Newsletter from NaturalNews.com. I recently read an article that Japanese researchers have found a link between the chemical tributyltin and weight gain. Tributyltin (also known as TBT) is a common pollutant used as a pesticide as well as a preservative in paint, textiles and wood. TBT, which has a powerful impact even extremely small quantities, can ‘turn on’ genes that cause the growth and storage of fat. As a result, it interferes with the regulation of body metabolism by slowing it down and causing weight gain. The scientists who wrote the Bioscience article believe there’s a correlation between the introduction of chemicals, such as tributyltin, and obesity rates over the last four decades.

Articles such as this remind me how important it is to buy organic or pesticide-free foods whenever possible. The cost you pay for high quality food now could significantly reduce medical costs in the future. For more info on this article and other articles, or if you’re interested in a free subscription, click here: http://www.naturalnews.com/025022.html
