Snack TimeHealthy and Balanced Meal and Snack Ideas

As a whole, most busy Americans do not have the time to eat properly. Our society gravitates toward convenience and processed foods. Most people do not have the time to shop for fresh food every few days and prepare meals and snacks from scratch. Also, most Americans skip long hours between meals because they are not prepared. These are the main reasons why I started my Healthy Meal & Snack Delivery Service in Santa Barbara, which has been a huge help for many busy individuals and families.

For motivated people who are ready to make some healthy changes for themselves and their families, I encourage you to plan ahead and start enjoying these healthy & easy snack ideas throughout your day. They are well balanced snacks containing enough carbohydrates (approximately 15-25 grams) and protein (1-2 oz) to promote a level blood sugar (for a 3-4 hour period) and a healthy metabolism.

Healthy & Easy Snack Ideas:

½ cup trail mix (4:1 ratio of raw nuts and seeds to dried fruit)

1 cup Organic strawberries and 1-2 Mozzarella cheese sticks (Organic preferred)

Whole grain or rice crackers with ½ cup homemade egg, tuna, or chicken salad

1/3 cup hummus with raw vegetables

1 medium apple and 1-2 Tbsp. real peanut butter (Organic preferred)

1 cup plain yogurt (Organic Greek or European Style preferred) and ¼ cup blueberries

2 brown rice cakes and 1-2 Tbsp. real almond butter

1 small corn tortilla topped with chopped tomatoes and 1-2 Tbsp. feta crumbles

1 small grapefruit and 1 hard-boiled egg

1 cup edamame beans (shelled)

Goat cheese spread on 2 medium apricots

3 cups air-popped popcorn and ¼ cup mixed nuts

½ cup unsweetened applesauce and ½ cup cottage cheese (Organic preferred)

1 medium piece of fruit (orange, apple, pear, etc) and ¼ cup raw nuts or seeds

**It is important to add some non-starchy vegetables to your snacks, such as: Celery, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, broccoli, snap peas, and cauliflower.
