Post-Holiday Diet

Post Holiday Diet6 WAYS TO LOSE HOLIDAY WEIGHT

The most common New Year’s Resolution is to lose some weight. The holidays are a joyous, yet stressful time filled with tons of desserts and rich meals. Let’s shed those pounds and start the New Year off with some new healthy lifestyle changes. Follow these steps to improved health.

Step 1: Make a commitment & stick to it!
Let’s face the truth, not many people actually follow through with their New Year’s Resolutions. Two key components to success are motivation and compliance. Let’s get excited and set a plan that you can actually follow.
– Write down some realistic and measurable health goals (Ex: Lose 10 pounds in 3 months, Eat out less than 4 meals/week)
– Tell your mate, friends and family about your goals.
– Ask a friend or family member to follow this step-by-step guide with you.

Step 2: Clean out your pantry and refrigerator.
Start out by throwing out or giving away all the leftover holiday sweets and baked goods. Minimize processed food in your house by looking at ALL ingredient labels. If the words “partially hydrogenated” are listed, get rid of it. If the list of ingredients is super long and you cannot pronounce many of the items, get rid of it.

Step 3: Replenish your kitchen with healthy foods.
Planning ahead is the key to long term success.
– Write down a bunch of healthy meal and snack ideas that you and your family enjoy. Refer to my newsletter, Snack Newsletter, for some ideas.
Plan ahead by making a shopping list before heading to the store.
– Shop for whole foods and try to shop at a health food store instead of the supermarket.

Step 4: Water, Water, Water
Switching over all fluids to pure water is the easy way to make a big impact.
– Beverages Allowed: water, sparkling water, unsweetened teas
– Beverages to Minimize: alcohol, soda, diet drinks, sweetened iced tea, sports drinks, soy milk and coffee (decrease slowly to prevent withdraw symptoms)

Step 5: Start an Exercise Regimen.
Most people’s New Year Resolutions start with an exercise plan. They usually last for a month or so and then fizzle out. The missing link is the nutrition component. If people were to focus on healthy diet habits and then add a fitness regimen, their success rate would increase dramatically. Incorporate exercise that you enjoy and set realistic goals.

Step 6: Start a Few Key Supplements.
Nutritional supplements are meant to “supplement” your healthy diet and exercise regimen. My favorite two products that are essential for most people:
High quality multivitamin/mineral
Potent Omega 3 Fish Oils
I always sell pharmaceutical grade supplements. You can learn about these products on these links.
