Holiday Wellness

Holiday Wellness. This time of year can be a tough time for many of us, so many parties, too many sweets, and nonstop chaos. Instead of giving in and packing on those holiday pounds, try these healthy holiday tips so you can actually feel great and enjoy the holidays.

  1. Make a plan for the holiday season, like following my simple tips. The most common New Year’s Resolution is to lose some weight. Most people who focus on weight loss after January 1st use this as an excuse to eat excessively through the holidays, like eating that extra cookie or going back for seconds. Instead of this binge-type eating, make a vowel to yourself to eat wisely.
  2. Bring a healthy dish to parties. You may be infamous for your extra cheesy macaroni, but we all know that those are the dishes that make us feel like crap. Our bellies hurt, we have to unbutton our pants, and we start to fall asleep at the table. Make a new, light dish as a holiday tradition.
  3. Eat a light snack before going to parties. If you skip breakfast and lunch in anticipation for the big feast, you will most likely gorge yourself and consume an excessive amount of fat and calories.
  4. Choose your beverages wisely. Between all the eggnog, apple cider, sodas, and alcoholic drinks, I can promise that these empty calorie beverages will pack on the pounds.
  5. Exercise Everyday. If you exercise a little more, you won’t feel as guilty for eating a little more of the holiday feast.
  6. Have a wonderful time! If you moderate your food and drink consumption, you can still have fun. Remember, the holidays are a special time to celebrate our family, friends, and our health. Enjoy.
