3-Prong Approach to stay healthy and balanced this summer

Right now, I am at the Jersey Shore (Stone Harbor) having a blast.  Most of our extended family lives near this Tri-State area so the shore house is where we all congregate.  As you can imagine, there’s a ton of action, lots of personalities, and too much food and alcohol.

This is a yearly vacation for our family so through the years, I’ve gotten pretty good at creating a nice balance of eating healthy, keeping active, staying organized, as well as having FUN, indulging, and being spontaneous.

Most people struggle with finding balance and structure during the summer months.  And I totally get it!  With kids home from school, taxing them to camps, family vacations, and ice cream galore, I understand how hard it is to stay motivated with your healthy routines. 

I’m proud to share my 3-Prong Approach to stay healthy and organized this summer (while still having fun).

My 3-Prong Approach to stay healthy and balanced this summer (so you can fully enjoy)
1️⃣  Get in the right mindset. First identify your thoughts heading into vacation/summer. I’m so excited – I can’t wait to let loose. I’m scared that I am going to F up all the hard work I’ve dedicated to my diet.
It’s exhausting getting the whole family organized for vacation.
My family always annoys me – this is going to be rough. Now it’s time to reframe your thoughts and set a positive intention, like… I am excited for vacation 💗  I can have fun AND stay on track with healthy routines that I enjoy.  

2️⃣  Envision what this looks like and plan ahead. If you want to stay active, you can research and schedule in some exercise classes or plan daily beach walks. If you want to stay on top of your nutrition, you can make a realistic menu plan ahead of time with portable snack ideas and simple meals. If you don’t want to drink too much, bring/purchase fun ingredients for light mocktails. If you value your sleep, set an intention to wind down by a certain time (most nights). If you want to continue with your mediation or journal practice, then do it.

3️⃣ No perfection on vacation! Let’s be honest with ourselves… Who wants to be strict and structured during vacation?   

🌞 Give yourself some grace and indulge here and there (just not the whole time).  

🌞 Try to stick with your plan 70% of the time so you feel good in your body (not bloated, not exhausted, and not feeling guilty). 

🌞 And then fully enjoy all the spontaneous moments… Enjoy a good martini, ice cream cone, lazy morning, big night out.
