When walking through the yogurt isle at the supermarket, it’s tricky finding a yogurt that is low in added sugar, has clean ingredients, and still tastes delicious.
Yogurts like Yoplait, Dannon, and Light & Fit are packed with sugar and/or artificial sweeteners that can cause inflammation in the body. It is important to pick a yogurt with less than 10 grams of sugar and ingredients that are clean.
If you don’t mind the tart flavor of plain yogurt, my #1 option is plain Greek Yogurt. You can add your own fruit for natural sweetness. I like Greek Yogurt the best because it is naturally higher in protein and lower in sugar (approximately 15 grams of protein + 4 grams of sugar). In general, I usually recommend yogurt with full or 2% fat to promote a steady blood sugar and better satiety.
