Create a Healthy Morning Routine

Envision this dreamy situation…You go to bed early and sleep well.  When you wake up, you feel rested.  You get up before anyone else in the household for some quality alone time.   You start out your morning with a short meditation to clear your mind.  You have enough time to review your schedule and plan ahead for the day.  Before leaving the house, you eat a balanced breakfast and take your vitamins for a high energy day.

Your circumstances may not fit into this perfect scenario, but I’m sure you can make some simple changes to create a healthier and happier routine.  Here are tons of ideas.

4 TIPS FOR A SMOOTH MORNING + HAPPY DAY

Play around with your wake (alarm) time. Give yourself enough time in the morning so you are not rushed. This process may take some time.  Be patient and consistent.

Start out your day with positive mojo. Try morning meditation or prayer. Listen to happy music. Create an intention for your day.  Read (and feel) a daily affirmation.  Add a mini yoga routine.  Keep a gratitude journal.

  • No negative vibes. In order to stay positive, it is helpful to avoid social media, the news, and diving into work.
  • Affirmations: Throughout our time together, you will be given tons of affirmations.  If any resonate with you, write them down and post where you will see often.  Here is one of my favorites:
  • Every morning when I wake up, I am grateful to be alive.
  • My health is a gift so I treat my body with the respect it deserves.

Plan ahead and get organized. Instead of rushing and running out the house, have a plan for the day.  Look at your schedule.  Pack lunch, snack and water if needed.  Schedule in exercise if possible.  I also like to dedicate a little time in nature every day.  The more organized, the more successful you will be.

Eat breakfast at home. Ideally, eat within one hour of rising.  I love making my all time favorite smoothie blend.  It is fine to include coffee as your morning ritual but it does not count as your fuel source. Eat a balanced breakfast and drink at least 8 oz of water.  Herbal tea is a lovely option.  Also consider adding in a few key supplements (we will cover this later).
