Mason Jar Salads

Mason Jar SaladsI don’t know if you have ever seen a Mason Jar Salad, but I think it is genius.   Take 15-30 minutes in the beginning of the week to prep your Mason Jar Salads and now you have beautiful, tasty, healthy lunches for the week.

The Layering Process:

Overall, the idea is that you layer the ingredients in the Mason Jar, wettest ingredients first (dressing) up to the dry ingredients (lettuce) on top.  With this layering process and the tight seal of a Mason Jar, the salads will last all week.

Nutrition Tip:

Most people make salads with lots of veggies and protein but forget to add carbs.  Without a healthy carbohydrate a lunch, you are more likely to feel lethargic and have sweet cravings later.  Here are a ton of healthy balanced salad combos: http://www.sunshinewellnessinstitute.com/nutrition-tips/meal-snack-ideas/balanced-smoothies-and-salads/
